A remarkable folk art carved cane with a woman's "touch" - the whole in high relief and painted. Starting at the top we see a large bird's claw, followed by a pair of acorns wrapped with a rose, which leads to a woman's forearm and hand, her wrist with a watch and her hand holding a branch - the branch wrapped with a rattlesnake eyeing a rose, a turtle is carved near the end, opposite the snake's rattle.
A highly unusual and beautiful example - though snakes and turtles were part of the carver's vernacular, the woman's hand and overall sensitivity is unique.
Condition: Excellent, with expected wear to the high points and associated paint loss.
