Art Deco artists sought an economy of design with roots in Futurism and Modernism. The Roaring Twenties embraced its elegance, functionality and modernity. Though aluminum was an ancient and abundant material, its use in sculpture and design did not take off until Art Deco embraced it as a progressive medium.
