A very fine ash burl bowl of an unusual form (sort of a rounded rectangle). Masterfully hewn with a fine symmetry and an even wall thickness. The surface is highly complex with a dark patination—the wood specimen has a few natural inclusions, which the Woodlands makers preferred to leave untouched.
This bowl is pictured and discussed in NORTH AMERICAN BURL TREEN: Colonial & Native American, page 132.
Provenance: Henry Ford Museum
Condition: Excellent with wear commensurate with age.
